The Victorian Sub District Cricket Association (VSDCA) is a metropolitan wide cricket competition, played on turf pitches and providing senior and junior levels of competition, currently consisting of 28 member clubs. The VSDCA is Victoria's second most senior competition. Season 2007/2008 is the Centenary of the VSDCA. The VSDCA encourages umpires to join the Victorian Sub District Cricket Umpires Association (VSDCUA) panel. There are different standards of cricket within the VSDCA (4 Senior Elevens) to accomodate experienced umpires or those commencing a career in umpiring. The VSDCUA has been a pathway to higher levels of Premier and 1st Class level for many umpires. Umpires are well paid and a Provident Fund benefit is payable (conditions apply) Umpires in the VSDCA are eligible for additional appointments eg. Country Week, R.M.Hatch Under 15. Arrangements can be made regarding appointments to local areas if required. Expert Umpire Training on the Laws of Cricket, Pennant Rules and umpiring techniques is provided by VSDCUA Advisor Mr. Chris Stevens. Chris is a member of the Cricket Victoria Premier Cricket Panel.
